Sum 15 Game
The Sum 15 Game is a Montessori STEM math game that, played at its most basic level, is ideal for young learners learning basic math. But if strategy to win is taken seriously, offers a higher level challenge for older players. Each player has three rings, which they take turns placing one ring at a time over a numbered post. The goal is to place the rings so that the numbers on the “captured” post add to 15. At the basic level, the challenge is basic addition to plan which post to choose next. Older players focusing on strategy will find the game much more challenging: Which post do choose first to give me the highest probability of reaching 15 later? What post do I need to capture to keep my opponent from reaching 15 on their next move. Played strategically, with a bit of “Game Theory” attitude, it is a surprisingly challenging and fun game.
The board features laser-engraved text and durable, thick acrylic rings in two colors, which may vary. Crafted primarily for strength and aesthetic appeal, the 9.5” x 2.5” board supports additional challenges limited only by imagination, such as forming sums of 17 with odd numbers or combining odd and even numbers.
