Nest – Terry Goodkind
A young woman, Kate Bishop, is drawn into the police investigation of a murder, and realizes she has a unique ability; the ability to look into a person’s eyes and see if that person has killed someone. Even more, she perceives what the killer and his/her victim thought, said and did. Possessing this paranormal ability engenders a sense of responsibility in Kate; she feels compelled to use her ability to stop serial murderers, and to execute justice in situations that are the beyond the reach of official law enforcement agencies.
Her ability makes her a hunter of evil, but she is also hunted by it; There are uniquely gifted ones among the evil who recognize Kate’s ability, and target her for death. It is circular; Kate can recognize evil people and targets them, and some of the evil can recognize Kate as a person who can recognize them, and target her.
