Tower of Hanoi
The Tower of Hanoi consists of three pegs, and rings of varying sizes. The goal is to start with the rings stacked in order, with the largest ring on the bottom and the smallest ring on top on one of the pegs, and using all three pegs, move all of the rings to another peg, ending with the rings again in order with the largest on the bottom and the smallest on top. Sound easy? There’s a catch… at no point in the process can you place a larger ring on top of a smaller ring.
This is another legacy puzzle, dating back to 1883 when it was called the Tower of Brahma. It is made from Raintree wood, and includes a wooden box for storage.
The Tower of Hanoi comes in two versions: a seven-ring version and a nine-ring version. The seven-ring version takes a minimum of 127 moves to complete, and the nine-ring version, being a level of difficulty higher, takes a minimum of 511 moves to complete.
