Snow Treasure is the true story of children in Norway who helped smuggle gold out of the country when the Nazis took over the country in WWII, to keep the Nazis from confiscating it to fund their war machine. Gold bricks were carried on snow sleds down the mountain, hidden and retrieved later by the underground. An excellent children’s book, and still in print eight decades after first published.
