Elsewhere – Dean Koontz

Jeffy Coltrane has an exceptionally close and loving relationship with his eleven-year-old daughter Amity, who he has raised as a single father since his wife/her mother left 7 years ago to “find herself”. Part of Jeffy and Amity’s routine is entertaining front porch visitations with Ed, a peculiarly intelligent, clean and well-spoken homeless man. One night Ed shows up to his front porch visit agitated, with a mysterious box that he gives it to Jeffy, instructing him to hide it and never open it. Ed claims the box cost $67B, and that a “demonic posse” was pursuing him to get the box. Jeffy agrees, thinking to humor a senile homeless man. The next morning, black ops Suburbans, choppers and operatives descend on Jeffy’s neighborhood looking for the box. And Jeffy and Amity are off on the suspense/Sci-Fi/thriller story of a lifetime.
