The Taking – Dean Koontz

Molly Sloan awakens in the night to a strange, foul-smelling, luminous, oily rain falling. Wild animals have taken refuge on her front porch to escape it. Seeing several strange and inexplicable phenomena, they pack up their car and leave their home to find other people to ride out this strange event with, but what has happened to most of their neighbors is stranger than what has happened to the rain. They find a remnant of people to hunker down with, but the remnant shrinks as many fall victim to the strange events around them. Survival becomes a full-time preoccupation in this suspense/Sci-Fi/thriller.
