True Tales Of The South Seas – A Grove Day & Carl Stroven – Editors

True Tales of the South Seas is a collection of twenty-four stories of the South Seas. The time period of the stories spans from WWII back to the early 1700s, and include the stories of such well known events as the sinking of the Essex (which Herman Melville used in his book Moby Dick) and the Mutiny on the Bounty. Topics range from wartime stories, to shipwrecks, to the challenge of dealing with treacherous, devious native islanders whose total lack of morals made them unpredictable and dangerous. An excellent volume.
